WE WON

What a night, everyone at the compound was in the main room glued to the TV. Jimmy was flipping thru the channels and we were all counting down till Obama made his speech. What a speech that was, I was truly inspired and glad I took part of the historical event. I called my mom, who I a high school history teacher and department head and ask her what she was going to tell her kids tomorrow. She said and I quote " We have just witness history in the making". I told her this is a new chapter in her history books. Now it is time to turn in and dream of that better tomorrow and as I go I just wanted to say that I feel nothing but love in the air. Love for the outcome, the future, the struggle to get where we want, love of friends, family and for one self and without this love where would be all be?

VOTE everyone, you will make the change happen

LA or BUST

Well tonight my great friend and artist Theresa came over for a last farewell dinner, I made her red enchiladas. I met Theresa from a fellow artist and have turned into great friends. If she reads this is probably uncomfortable, she is NOT into mushy stuff. She is off to a new life in LA and I wish her nothing but the best of luck. She is a great painter and makes me laugh when I am up in a  lift and screaming because the wind is shaking us around. If you like to see her work www.theresapfarr.com.
Hey T LA is going to be great, great ready for printed patterns, miss ya

The Font Death

My title sounds a bit much but while working in the studio Sunday, i had installed new fonts, well low a behold that all of those fonts turned my almost brand new Mac into a tizzies. My Mac was sticking, freezing, and just acting crazy. Needless to say I did not sleep well that night, Apple support was not there to support me until Monday at 9am. So all day Monday I was on the phone with Apple and restored my computer like new. I had to reinstall all of my programs and now I have to reset all of my settings. Only one real tragic thing happen is that I lost ALL of my photos for this blog and of life here in New Mexico. Rigo just reminded me of what a learning experience this has been and move forward. So any designers or anyone who loves to play around with fonts DO NOT DOWNLOAD FONTS FROM 1001 FREE FONTS AND DON'T BUY THE PACKAGE DEAL FOR 19.95. Trust me you will regret it in the end.

Oh Monday again

Good Monday to everyone here at the Gonzalez household we are off to any early start, Rigo's idea. This week should be about the same just more hours at the museum and I have some makeup work to do on my Mac.  Yesterday while working in my studio I downloaded fonts due to the fact that I did not have much on my new Mac and I download a 10,000 package and NOW my poor baby is paying the price. My Mac is running slow but now I have to spend some time returning then to their default. Like my life is not filled with other things to do. But Say La Vivi,

Where have I been all of my life

Hello everyone I have been away from my beloved computer for a while and don't mean to be but work was calling. First the MURAL PROJECT was taking up my time, form sun up to sun down and I had to wash it all down with grezy food and beer. My gym was calling and asking why then were you doing so much yoga and running if you are going to do that to your body. But I have so many pics for everyone to see the installtions and then the dedication. Check out the side bar slide show for MURAL PROJECT and see it all.

Other than that I have been putting extra hours at the museum, knitting every free chance that I get and our social calander has been busy, bar-b-que, dinner party, an open house tonight. These are the times that I wish I had a CANON-supershot, but my big canon will have to do, i just dose not go with my outfits, so Rigo gets to carry it. On top of it all I got an eye infection but on my way to recovery, so stay tuned and see what happens next.

Manic Monday

Well I finished working with the magic performers and they really like the backpack. Last night we had a much needed knitting night, Kelli helped me thru a problem that I was having doing patters, so now I am ready to work on patterns. I tell you they follow me everywhere, I love it. Today is a regular Monday, work at the museum, home, cook, tonight is yoga and then I will run and then knitting. I can work on any graphic work because I am waiting for my new programs in the mail. Now that I have a Mac, I need the Mac versions of Adobe. So that just more time for knitting. Other than that here at the compound we are doing great. The weather just turned colder and we are loving it, back home this wold be consider winter.

Rigo has been busy and now he started his 3rd painting. This is the biggest one he as done to date, it took a whole day to put together the stretchers bar, stretch the linen but it was all worth it. Now there are some pic with his prop that came in the mail, IT IS A FAKE, so not to worry anyone. I will post some pics here but get the full slide show on the right side

He is such a bad ass with the gun and his pallet, he was just trying to scare the girl at hobby lobby to give us that dam coupon discount.....lol......

This months Mags

Anyone who know me know I LOVE to buy mags, all of them every month and i keep them and use them for my project and random info that I will need one day.  I love these because they are all about FALL and I love holiday time. Now living here in New Mexico we can really experience the season more than the valley and I am loving it.

These are the mags for craft and food inspiration

These are the mags for fashion inspiration

These need to be filed away

Saturday Night Knitting Club

Well life on the grant leads residents to come up with creative ideas on how to have a ROCKING Saturday night. Due to the fact that we are all on a budget and really if we had loads of cash, there is really no place to go out on a Saturday night in Roswell. Most of the residents come from big cities and know what it is really like to live it up. Hey we are all artist and we love to party and have a good time, have you every met an artist that doesn't like to drink, i rest my point, so upon meeting all of  the new girls here on the compound we all found that we like to knit, KNIT you say, why yes, and if you didn't know how we then my teacher mode kicked in and I will teach you. So we have make it a regular event that every Saturday night is knitting night. Now knitting night includes movies, drinks, food and overall fun and laughter. I truly love it and I think so do the other girls. Now without further a due here are my fellow knitters.

This is the group, what a wild bunch of girls

This is Kellie Vance, aka the sock imposter, now the story about Kellie is that she never knitted before and now she has about 3 or 4 scarfs under her belt and now is working on kitting patterns. She is my best students and I would like to take the shameless create for knitting success. I taught her everything she knows.....HA HA
Now this is Katie and she is a PRO, she is not messing around, look at her go with the mittins that she knitted in a day. She is what we all dream to be.

Thats is Alex and Katie and Alex is also an amazing knitter and is starting on a new project, a leaf, great idea due to the fact that the leaves are about to change here soon. She is the one we go to when we have lost a stitch," Alex what was I doing here I lost it HELP... knit or purl...." thats is me last night.

Xanthe is also a experience knitter she an import from Canada and know good wool when she see one and my sex in the city follower as am I.

Now this is someone who wants to remain unknown, she will be refered to as lone knitter.......and that is the yarn her daughter picked out, what great taste she has.

This is Nancy Ray, she is always in and out and well today she was out, but her desk was waiting for her with a lot of papers.
This is Lanice Lou, who is truly only 35.

This is Ester Sue, who works at so many places everyone knows her.

Today Rigo asked if I would stay home and help him because in the early morning while I was at the gym he broke a mirror, then he broke the stretcher bars and the while he was drilling in wood to correct the mistakes he made, he broke the drill bid, go figure I told him to put down the tools and quit for the day but he, showing his dedication, continued going. Until one of his packages came in and what a package it is, maybe I can take a pic with him and his new prop.

As for what I have done still in the testing stage with my prints, I have some pic to show my steps. I think I want to much detail for block printing so I might take my chance with silkscreen prints, Rigo reminds me that it is a lot of work but hey I really have not much going on for a about a year, so silkscreen here I come and with great ideas.

I have an update to show thanks to my little knitter, thank you, you remind me that blogging after hours is going to need my full attention.

Well they finally came yesterday and Rigo is hard at work putting them together. I was so amazed how much faster they come together when you have some power behind them. I tried to get him to used them sooner but hey......
